Dr. Ganesh Baraiya is a young and inspiring doctor from Gujarat, India. On December 2, 2025, his journey of courage and success is celebrated as he begins his career serving patients despite many challenges. He is well known for being very short in height—only three feet tall—but this did not stop him from becoming a qualified and respected medical doctor.

Early Life

Dr. Ganesh was born in the small village of Gorkhi in Bhavnagar district. He comes from a large family with eight siblings. His parents are farmers and lived a simple life in a kaccha (mud) house. Ganesh was born with dwarfism which made his height only three feet and gave him a locomotor disability of 72%. From the start, life was not easy for him because many people doubted his abilities due to his height and disability.

Education

When Ganesh wanted to take admission in medical college in 2018, the Medical Council of India (MCI) rejected his application. They said his short height would make it hard for him to work as a doctor, especially in emergency cases. This decision was a big obstacle for Ganesh. But he did not give up his dream. With the support of his school principal and friends, he fought a legal battle. The Gujarat High Court first refused his case, but Ganesh took his fight to the Supreme Court of India. In 2018, the Supreme Court gave him permission to join the Government Medical College in Bhavnagar. This was a historic decision supporting fairness and removing bias against people with disabilities.
